Retatrutide Price: What the Label Mass Leaves Out
Every price in this market is a ratio, and the denominator is the part no seller is obliged to certify. This breakdown separates price per vial from price per labelled milligram and price per milligram of peptide a certificate actually vouches for.

Retatrutide price at three denominators: vial, labelled mg, certified mg
A lyophilised vial labelled 10 mg contains 10 mg of solid. Solid is not the same thing as peptide. Two components routinely occupy part of that mass, and both are measurable, and neither is reported on most certificates in this category.
The first is residual water. Freeze-drying does not remove all of it, which is why water content by Karl Fischer titration is one of the universal tests that ICH Q6A names for a new drug substance. The second is the counterion. Peptides purified by reversed-phase chromatography are usually isolated as trifluoroacetate salts, and the trifluoroacetate is part of what the balance reads.

The correction moves both figures by about 19 percent and leaves the ordering unchanged. That is the useful property: it applies to every supplier who does not report salt form and water content, so it does not favour anyone, and it tells you how much of a quoted price difference is real rather than a difference in what is being weighed.
Why retatrutide cost without insurance is the only cost there is
Searches for retatrutide cost without insurance assume there is an insured price to compare against. There is not. Reimbursement attaches to an approved product dispensed on a prescription, and retatrutide is an investigational compound with no marketing authorisation anywhere.
That has a practical consequence for price comparison. With approved GLP-1 medicines, list price, negotiated price and patient copay are three different numbers and the headline one is close to meaningless. Here there is a single number, paid in full, by the buyer, at checkout. Nothing is hidden behind a benefits design.

What a certificate has to state before a per-mg figure means anything
A per-milligram price is only as good as the mass claim underneath it, and a mass claim is only as good as the document behind it. Four lines on a certificate decide whether the arithmetic above is guesswork or measurement.
Purity by reversed-phase HPLC, reported as area under the curve at a stated wavelength, normally 214 nm for the peptide backbone. Identity by mass spectrometry, with the measured mass printed next to the theoretical figure of roughly 4,731 Da for this 39-residue sequence. Water content by Karl Fischer. Salt form, stated as trifluoroacetate or acetate, with the counterion percentage if the laboratory measured it.
Only the last two change the price arithmetic, and they are the two most often absent. The counterion is not a rounding detail either: residual trifluoroacetate has been shown to inhibit proliferation in osteoblast and chondrocyte culture, so for cell work it is a variable in the experiment as well as a line in the invoice.

Two laboratories reporting on the same batch is a stronger position than one, and it is checkable: open both, and read the four lines above rather than the summary figure at the top.

Two published mechanics change the total beyond the per-unit price. Bulk tiers reduce the list price by 3 percent at three units, 5 percent at five and 10 percent at ten. Shipping is free over $250.
The threshold has an ambiguity worth knowing about before you build a basket: a $250 minimum can be evaluated against the subtotal before a discount or the total after it, and the two readings qualify different baskets. Row two and row three are the comparison that matters. Both deliver 30 mg of labelled mass. One costs $148.50 and the other $125.00, a difference of $23.50 for the same quantity, which is why the per-milligram column and not the sticker price is the decision variable. Row two does buy three separate lot numbers, and therefore three certificates rather than one, which is worth something to anyone who wants replicate material from independent batches.
Cost per handling unit, once the vial is in solution
The third denominator is the working one. A 10 mg vial reconstituted to a 5 mg/mL stock yields 2 mL of solution, so the stock costs $24.75 per mL at the discounted vial price. A 30 mg vial at the same concentration yields 6 mL at $20.83 per mL.
That figure is the one that survives contact with a laboratory notebook, because aliquots are dispensed by volume and losses happen by volume. Dead volume in a syringe hub, material left on a vial wall and repeated freeze-thaw all consume millilitres, not milligrams, and none of them appear in a per-vial comparison.
Vial size interacts with that loss in a way the per-milligram column hides. A single 30 mg vial is opened once and then drawn from repeatedly, so every withdrawal is another opportunity for contamination and another thermal cycle for the solution. Three 10 mg vials cost $23.50 more for the same labelled mass and spread that exposure across three containers. Which is cheaper depends on how much material a workflow loses, and that is a measurement each laboratory has to make for itself rather than read off a price list.
The arithmetic linking labelled mass to concentration to volume is where most avoidable error enters, and it compounds with the counterion correction above: a stock prepared on the assumption that 10 mg of powder is 10 mg of peptide is more dilute than the label says. What retatrutide cost and price cannot tell you
Anyone comparing retatrutide cost and price across suppliers is comparing offers, not compounds. The compound is identical in every listing by definition, and the evidence behind it is identical too, because it is public.
That evidence is currently Phase 2 for published human outcomes. The 48-week obesity trial reported by Jastreboff and colleagues in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2023 recorded mean weight reduction of about 24 percent at the 12 mg dose. Phase 3 is under way: TRIUMPH-1 (NCT05929066) enrolled 2,335 participants and completed on 30 April 2026, while the outcomes work in the same programme runs to 2029.
No price signals anything about that timeline. A cheap vial and an expensive vial are both unreviewed material, sold for laboratory use, from a compound no regulator has assessed, and the FDA has warned specifically about unapproved GLP-1 products marketed outside that framing. Price only ever tells you what the transaction costs.
