NAD+ Price: The Assay a Cheaper Listing Never Ran
One gram, one list price, one code. The arithmetic takes a line. The harder question is which assays were run on the material before a price was attached to it, because a food-grade specification is cheaper for a reason and the reason is the test list.
The NAD+ price at the supplier linked below is $104.00 for 1,000 mg, or $52.00 with the code PEPTIDEDECK. That is $10.40 and $5.20 per 100 mg. There is one presentation, so there is no vial-size comparison to run.
NAD+ is a coenzyme rather than a peptide, and it is sold by the gram where the peptides on the same shelf are sold in five and ten milligram vials. That changes the unit the arithmetic should be done in, and it changes the assays a certificate has to carry. Everything below follows from those two facts.

The published quantity tiers apply to the list price: 3 percent off at three units, 5 percent at five, 10 percent at ten. They are modest, and the table exists mainly so the last row has something to be measured against.

Why the NAD IV price is not the same kind of number
NAD+ is unusual among the compounds covered on this site in having an open clinical channel. Infusion clinics, wellness practices and med spas advertise NAD+ drips by name, and readers arriving on a price query are often comparing a session against a vial without noticing that the two prices describe different objects.
We are not going to print a clinic range. Session pricing varies by market and by practice, it is published inconsistently, and a figure assembled from recollection would be the least defensible number on a page whose entire argument is that unsupported figures should be distrusted. What can be described without inventing anything is the structure.
- A clinic charges per session, and commonly sells sessions in multi-visit packages or on a membership, which means the headline number and the effective number differ.
- The session price bundles the compounded sterile preparation, the giving set and other consumables, the chair time, and the clinician who is accountable for administering it. None of those line items is separated out.
- Price lists rarely state how much NAD+ is in the bag, which is precisely the number you would need to convert a session price into a cost per 100 mg. Without it, the division cannot be done honestly.
- The material in a clinic bag has usually been through a compounding pharmacy, which means a different set of obligations applies to it than to a research-supply powder. That difference is the subject of our regulatory page.
So the comparison worth making is not arithmetic. A session buys an administered preparation and a named professional who answers for it. A research order buys a labelled quantity of powder and whatever certificate the seller publishes. Those are different purchases with different failure modes, and the failure mode of the second one is documentary.
What a price certifies about the material
Nothing. Price is a commercial setting chosen after the fact; purity, identity, water content and endotoxin load are measurements made on a lot before any number was attached to it. The useful move is to work out which measurements exist, and which of them a cheaper specification quietly omits.
Four analyses belong on a certificate for material of this kind. They are not interchangeable, and three of them are commonly present while the fourth is the one that decides whether the material was ever suitable for an injectable preparation.

A result is only as good as the method behind it, which is the principle set out in ICH Q2(R2) for regulated analytical work. Research-supply certificates are voluntary documents under no such obligation, so a named laboratory, a report date, a lot number and a visible trace matter more than a headline percentage in a large font.
The line where a cheap gram gets cheap
In October 2024 FDA published a notice reminding compounders to use ingredients suitable for sterile compounding. It is specifically about this compound. The agency wrote that it is aware of compounders using food-grade nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide sold by repackagers to make intravenous products, and that ingredients identified as food grade are not suitable for compounding sterile drugs without appropriate processing, due to the high risk of contamination with microbes and endotoxins.
The notice goes further. FDA stated it had received adverse event reports following use of NAD+ injectable drugs, including severe chills, shaking, vomiting and fatigue, with some requiring medical treatment, and that these reactions are consistent with excessive levels of endotoxins.
That is the mechanism by which a price gets low. Food-grade material is made and released against a food specification. A food specification does not carry a bacterial endotoxins limit, because food is not injected. Skipping that release test is a real cost saving to the producer, and it is invisible on a product page. A listing that publishes a purity percentage and an identity confirmation but no endotoxin result has not answered the only question that produced documented harm.
So the honest reframing of a price comparison is this: two listings quoting different figures per 100 mg may not be selling the same specification, and the difference between them is a line on a certificate rather than a margin decision. Ask for the certificate for the lot you would be sent, and look for the endotoxin line before you look at anything else. The supplier linked above publishes lot certificates from two independent laboratories; read the one bearing the lot number on what arrives, not a sample document.
Cheap or expensive against what
The biochemistry of NAD+ is not in dispute. It is a coenzyme central to redox reactions in energy metabolism and a substrate consumed by sirtuins, PARPs and other enzymes, and its cellular metabolism has been reviewed extensively, most usefully by Covarrubias and colleagues in Nature Reviews Molecular Cell Biology. On this site that literature grades as settled mechanism, largely established in cells and animals.
What does not follow from settled mechanism is a settled case for infusing the coenzyme itself, and this is where the two halves of the evidence have to be kept apart. Clinics market NAD+ infusions for a range of conditions. We report that they do so; we do not adopt the claim, and none of it is established here. The gap between a well-characterised molecule and a demonstrated clinical benefit is the largest uncertainty on this page, and no price moves it.

All three sit close to double the $5.20 per 100 mg that the code produces on a single unit, which is why the tiers are the smaller lever of the two.
- Does a lower NAD+ price mean worse material?
- Not on its own, but it can mean a shorter test list, and that is the version of the question worth asking. Material released to a food specification is cheaper to make and cheaper to release because the specification does not require a bacterial endotoxins result. FDA has stated that it is aware of compounders using food-grade NAD+ sold by repackagers to make intravenous products, and that ingredients identified as food grade are not suitable for compounding sterile drugs without appropriate processing.
