BPC-157 where to buy: the six records that settle it
A criterion phrased as a quality cannot be failed. Trusted, premium, and pharmaceutical grade are not observations, so they exclude nobody. A criterion phrased as a document can be failed, because either the document exists and states something specific or it does not.
The right-hand column is specific to this compound. Most sourcing checklists are written for peptides in general, and two rows below change meaning when the molecule is a proline-rich pentadecapeptide with no aromatic residues.

A seventh test is not analytical. A seller that labels material for laboratory research and prints an injection schedule beside it has contradicted its own paperwork in public, which tells you how carefully the certificates were assembled.
Purity at 214 nm, because BPC-157 absorbs almost nowhere else
BPC-157 is the 15-residue sequence GEPPPGKPADDAGLV. Read it once for what is missing: there is no tryptophan, no tyrosine, and no phenylalanine anywhere in the chain. Those three aromatic side chains are what give most peptides their absorbance near 280 nm, and this one has none of them.
That single fact decides how the purity number on a certificate has to be produced. With no aromatic chromophore, the peptide bond is what absorbs, in the low ultraviolet around 205 to 220 nm, which is why 214 nm is the working detection wavelength for this compound rather than a house convention. A certificate reporting BPC-157 purity at 280 nm is reporting the absorbance of something other than BPC-157, and a certificate that gives no wavelength at all cannot be compared with anything.
Two further limits apply to any purity figure. It is an area percentage, so it describes the share of what eluted and absorbed, not the mass fraction of the powder in the vial. And it is silent about anything co-eluting with the main peak, which is why the gradient and column matter: a shallow gradient resolves impurities a fast one hides. Identity: 1419.5 average, 1418.7 monoisotopic, and one impurity mass cannot see
Purity and identity answer different questions, and a certificate that answers only the first has told you that the powder is consistently something. The formula C62H98N16O22 gives an average mass of about 1419.5 g/mol and a monoisotopic mass of about 1418.7 Da. Those are two different targets roughly 0.8 Da apart, and a report printing one figure without saying which convention it used has withheld a parameter you need to judge agreement.
On an electrospray instrument the deconvoluted mass should sit within a few daltons of the correct theoretical value. Larger gaps have specific candidate explanations in this sequence. A missing proline is 97.1 Da lighter, a missing glycine 57.0 Da lighter, and the run of three consecutive prolines at positions 3 to 5 is exactly the kind of stretch where solid-phase couplings go slowly and deletion sequences appear. BPC-157 contains no methionine and no cysteine, so the familiar 16 Da oxidation shift is not the first thing to look for here, which is a useful difference from peptides where it is.
There is one impurity class that mass spectrometry cannot resolve at all. The chain carries aspartic acid at positions 10 and 11, giving an Asp-Asp pair followed by Asp-Ala, and those motifs are known sites for aspartimide formation during Fmoc synthesis. The cyclic intermediate is 18 Da lighter, which a spectrum will show, but when it opens again it can give the beta-aspartyl isomer, which has the same formula and the same mass as the intended peptide. No mass spectrometer separates isobaric isomers by mass. Only chromatography, run well enough to resolve them, shows the second peak. That is the strongest practical reason to insist on both records instead of either one.
Why the pharmacy route is not the answer, with dates
Most readers working out where to buy assume a compounding pharmacy is the regulated version of the same purchase. It is not, and the reason has moved twice in 2026, so a page written before this spring is stale.
BPC-157 has never been approved by FDA for any indication and has no USP or NF monograph. In September 2023 it was placed in Category 2 of the bulk substances nominated for compounding under section 503A, the category for substances FDA considered to present significant safety risks. In April 2026 FDA removed it from Category 2 after the nominations were withdrawn, pending further evaluation, which is a procedural change and not a promotion to Category 1. At the Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee meeting of 23 and 24 July 2026 the committee narrowly recommended the substance for the 503A Bulks List. That vote is advisory and non-binding: BPC-157 is not listed in 21 CFR 216.23, and FDA has issued no final determination.
The net position is unapproved, no longer in Category 2, recommended but not listed. A pharmacy cannot treat that as settled, which is why the supply route in practice remains the research market. Anyone tested under anti-doping rules should also note that BPC-157 is prohibited at all times under WADA class S0, the class for substances with no current approval for human therapeutic use. Two reports from unconnected laboratories can disagree, which is what makes them worth having. We have not repeated or commissioned that testing, and those are the vendor's own published records.

What the documents cannot grade: the evidence itself
Passing every record above establishes what is in the vial, to the limit of what paperwork can establish. It says nothing about whether the compound does anything in a human being, and that file is thinner than the volume of writing about it suggests.
The tendon, ligament, and gastrointestinal findings are rodent and cell work. A large share of the primary literature comes from one group at the University of Zagreb, which is not a reason to dismiss it but is a replication gap rather than a body of independent confirmation. Some independent work exists: a Taiwanese group reported effects on tendon explant outgrowth and fibroblast migration in Journal of Applied Physiology in 2011, in cell culture and rats. A rectal formulation was taken into clinical development for ulcerative colitis by a Croatian sponsor in the 2000s under the code PL 14736, and what is publicly citable about that programme sits in review articles: a PubMed search for the code returns rodent studies and reviews, not an indexed trial report.
The first controlled human efficacy trial is now running. A randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase 2 study in acute grade II hamstring strain, 120 participants with MRI-confirmed injury, began recruiting on 2 February 2026 with an estimated primary completion of 14 February 2027. - A lot number, a date of analysis, the name of the laboratory that ran the work, the method, and the raw output rather than a summary line. For a synthetic 15-residue peptide that means a reversed-phase HPLC chromatogram with the detection wavelength and gradient stated, a mass spectrum printing the measured mass next to the theoretical mass, a Karl Fischer water figure, and the salt form. A page reading 99 percent purity with no lot, no method, and no trace is a marketing claim formatted to resemble data.
- Why does BPC-157 purity have to be read at 214 nm?
- Because the sequence GEPPPGKPADDAGLV contains no tryptophan, tyrosine, or phenylalanine. Only a stated salt form and a water figure let a buyer correct the label, and neither appears on a certificate that reports purity alone.
