Note what a perfect ten would and would not mean. It would mean every analytical claim a seller makes is available, attributable, cross-checked, and tied to your vial. It would not mean the material is pure, correctly identified, or correctly weighed. Those are findings inside the reports, and a rubric that pretended to score them would be inventing data.

Price is also absent, which is a deliberate choice rather than an oversight. Two vial prices are not comparable until water content and salt form are known, because the counterion fraction differs between suppliers and is rarely reported. A supplier that publishes neither figure has made its own price uninterpretable, and folding an uninterpretable number into a score would spread the error across every other criterion rather than isolating it. Cost belongs in the arithmetic after the documents have been read, not inside the ranking that decides which documents exist.

1. Suppliers publishing two independent laboratory reports per lot

Score 10 of 10. This is a small group, and Ascension Peptides is the entry in it that this site links to, on affiliate terms disclosed on the card above. Two laboratories examining the same material is a cross-check; one laboratory agreeing with itself is a single observation. Lot numbers are printed rather than implied, so the traceability criterion can be completed at delivery by reading the vial label. The distinction is not about competence. An in-house laboratory can be better equipped than a small contract laboratory. It is about who is in a position to be contradicted: a result produced by the seller cannot disagree with the seller. Anyone weighing this tier as the best place to buy MOTS-c should read the traces on their merits and score the independence criteria honestly rather than treating a published chromatogram as settling both questions at once.

4. Overseas manufacturers selling research quantities direct

Score 3 of 10. Buying nearer the point of synthesis removes a margin, and the listed price usually shows it. What it also removes is every mechanism for checking a document. A certificate from a laboratory you cannot identify, in a jurisdiction whose accreditation registers you cannot search, scores nothing on criterion two however professional it looks.

Traceability is usually absent, and terms score at most one point, since a detained or examined inbound parcel produces no practical recourse and the delivered cost gains duty, tax, and handling charged after purchase. A buyer choosing this route is trading the entire documentary chain for a lower headline figure, which is a coherent decision only if it is made deliberately.

5. Reshippers and storefronts with no laboratory named

Score 0 of 10, and the zero is structural rather than a judgement about anyone trading in this tier. There is no analysis to obtain, no laboratory to name, no lot chain, and often no accountable entity, so there is nothing for any of the five criteria to measure.

The common failure is decoupling rather than fraud. Material is bought in, repackaged, relabelled, and passed on, and every transfer breaks the link between an analysis and a powder. A certificate image forwarded in a message describes a lot that cannot be located, and payment is usually arranged so no third party can adjudicate a dispute. Anyone comparing a MOTS-c source in this tier against the ones above is not comparing prices, but comparing a documented purchase with an undocumented one.

What the rubric leaves to you, and what no source can supply

Four things sit outside the score and inside the certificate. Purity, read as a chromatogram at 214 nm rather than as a percentage, because the figure is an area ratio that moves with gradient and integration. Beyond that sits the limit no supplier can move. MOTS-c was characterised by Lee and colleagues in Cell Metabolism in 2015 as a mitochondrial-derived peptide acting through AMPK, in cell culture and in mice, and Reynolds and colleagues later described it in Nature Communications as exercise-responsive in muscle, again largely in rodent work. The only human clinical programme belonged to CB4211, a MOTS-c analogue rather than MOTS-c itself, which completed a Phase 1a/1b study of 88 participants (NCT03998514) in April 2021 before its sponsor wound down. There is no Phase 3 and no large human efficacy trial.

That is also why the pharmacy route does not appear in the ranking. MOTS-c is not approved in any market and is not on the FDA's 503A bulk drug substances list, so no compounding pharmacy has a lawful substance to work with. The Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee took up MOTS-c-related bulk substances on 23 July 2026, and a committee recommends while the agency decides, so the position on the day of writing is unchanged. Frequently asked questions

Why does this ranking not score purity or identity?
Because neither can be scored from outside without reading a specific certificate for a specific lot, and that certificate changes with every batch. A page that assigned a purity score to a supplier would be scoring a number it copied, and the number is the least informative part of the analysis. What can be scored from outside is whether the document exists, whether a laboratory is named on it, whether a second laboratory checked the same lot, and whether the lot can be matched to a vial.
Does the top-ranked entry win because it is an affiliate partner?

How does the evidence for MOTS-c compare with better-studied peptides?
It is substantially thinner and should not be described in the same terms. MOTS-c is characterised in cell and rodent work, principally the 2015 Cell Metabolism paper by Lee and colleagues, with no completed human efficacy trial of the peptide itself. The nearest human data belongs to CB4211, a MOTS-c analogue, which finished a Phase 1a/1b study in 2021 before its sponsor wound down. Compounds with published Phase 2 or running Phase 3 programmes are in a different evidence tier entirely.
